Topic: September 1922, the catastrophe of Smyrna and the Japanese ship."
In September 1922, Greece was defeated in the Greek-Turkish War, and Greek Orthodox Christians in Asia Minor became refugees. The legend that Japanese ships helped Greek refugees while Smyrna was engulfed by fire has been spoken among Greeks to date. Whether this tradition is indeed a historical fact will be examined based on historical materials collected so far.
